You can read more about that topic here.
Visiting a psychotherapist is becoming less and less of a taboo. In Western countries it already represents a reflection of taking greater responsibility for one's life, mental health, better relationships and the utilization of one's potential.

Trends show that the need for psychotherapy is growing, as the demands of life bring us ever greater challenges. Statistics show an increase in mental problems around the world, and at the same time more and more people are aware of the importance of mental health in all areas of work and life.

According to the European Commission, poor mental health means a loss of at least 3 to 4 percent gross domestic product, because the consequences of mental problems heavily burden the economic, educational, social, health, criminal and judicial systems of countries.
If you are facing challenges in your life that you cannot cope with on your own, you can turn to a psychotherapist for help. If you feel that your emotions, experiences, thinking and behavior could be different or if you want to improve relationships in your family or work environment, a psychotherapist can help you.
You can find a list of certified psychotherapists and specialists here.

All our psychotherapists are highly professional, experienced and work in the field of various different modalities (directions of psychotherapy). The user thus has the opportunity to choose between different psychotherapists, and if he/she chooses online psychotherapy is not limited by their location. We are constantly updating the list of included psychotherapists.

The use of mypsychotherapist.co.uk services

You can choose a psychotherapist yourself, based on the description of his/her skills and areas of work. Once you've selected it, click to sign up for an introductory session (in-person or online). If during the first meeting or subsequent ones you find that the selected therapist is not the most suitable for you, you can choose another one. If you need help and advice in choosing the most suitable psychotherapist, you can write to us at info@mypsychotherapist.co.uk.
Registration on our website is free. It allows you to choose your psychotherapist and establish secure communication with him/her (messages and video call). You can also use our calendar of therapy sessions (already held or future ones). Registration allows you to receive reminders about messages from your therapist and ensures secure communication with the mypsychotherapist.co.uk team, if you have any additional questions.

When registering, only your email address is required, you do not need to use your real name, but only a valid email address. Therapists do not have information about your email address, they only see your name or the nickname you entered during registration.
Online psychotherapy (video call) is convenient, as it can take place from your home environment or wherever you have a computer and internet access. Also, you won't have to visit the psychotherapy office, which could be situated many kilometers away from your home.

With online therapy, you have a greater possibility of choosing a psychotherapist, since you are not limited by the location of his work. This form of therapy is especially suitable for those who have a very busy schedule, are on the road a lot, are abroad, cannot leave home, are disabled, have difficulty finding childcare or the digital method of communication suits them.

For those who decide to have online psychotherapy, the psychotherapist will assess whether your challenges and problems can be solved via video call, or whether in-person sessions would be more appropriate in the future. Online psychotherapy can in many cases be an independent, effective approach or it can be a supplement to in-person sessions.

If online psychotherapy through video call is not your cup of tea, you can sign up for in-person sessions.
On the list of psychotherapists you can choose the one you think would best help you with your problem and with whom you could get along best. When you register on the website, you can send a message to the selected psychotherapist, and within 48 hours (during the working days) he/she will provide you with a possible date for an introductory session. If you confirm it, you will receive an invoice for the payment of the introductory session. You can discuss the further method of work with your selected psychotherapist.
You will receive an answer within 2 working days.
Your psychotherapist will assess this, and together the two of you will discuss on the course of your therapy sessions.
You pay for the therapy in advance (via online payment on our website), after your chosen therapist has scheduled an appointment for you
Our services and all our activities follow the highest data security and confidentiality requirements. Our servers are located in UK and the EU and are protected at the highest level of security with permanent encryption.
When you book your psychotherapy session, you can choose a nickname and an email that does not reveal your identity. On the other hand, it is important to know that trustworthiness and openness with the psychotherapist is the key to effective therapy and its success.

About psychotherapy

Choosing a therapist who provides you with a safe and trusting environment is the most important element of the psychotherapy process. In the description of each psychotherapist, it is indicated which types (modalities) of psychotherapy he/she offers.
Different types of psychotherapy slightly differ from each other. Using different methods and techniques, they achieve different goals: some eliminate symptoms and change behavior, some focus on experience, and others achieve deeper changes in the individual's personality structure. Some types of psychotherapy are aimed at the individual, others at both partners or the whole family. The duration of psychotherapy also varies, with behavioral-cognitive therapy, around 10 meetings will be needed, with an individual analytical approach, you will attend therapy for a year or more.

All therapies have the goal of supporting you in life and equipping you for easier and better functioning in the future.
The price of a psychotherapy session is indicated by each psychotherapist. Prices are different. If you are considering psychotherapy, you should not only think about the price of psychotherapy, but about its value for your future life.
One psychotherapy session lasts up to 45 or 50 minutes, while couple's psychotherapy lasts an hour or an hour and a half (check with the selected psychotherapist in advance).
The frequency of psychotherapy sessions will be suggested by your psychotherapist, depending on the specifics of your problems. Meetings are usually held once a week, always on the same day and time.
A psychotherapist cannot read minds. He only knows what the client tells him. Therefore, it is important that if we have already decided on psychotherapy, that we are open to changes and try to say as many things as possible, which we think might significantly contribute to the success of the therapy. Psychotherapists who work at our website are professional and bound by a code of ethics, which means that they must not forward your personal information to anyone.
If you forget the therapy session, you still have to pay for it.
Supervision is a process between psychotherapist and his supervisor that helps and supports the psychotherapist to perform his work better. Every psychotherapist needs supervision. During supervision, the psychotherapist and his supervisor discuss work with clients (the identity of the clients remains hidden). When working with clients, the psychotherapist experiences various feelings, which he processes during supervision. The supervisor can also point out some important thing that the psychotherapist overlooked in his work. Supervision can take place individually or in groups.
